Marigot Beach Club

London restaurateur David Shimeld first started visiting St Lucia in 1991. David and his then wife – Bond Girl Caroline Hallett – took four two-week holidays a year on the island, eventually buying 2½ acres of prime land next to David’s favourite St Lucia hotel, Le Sport.

After selling David’s London concerns in 1995, the couple moved to St Lucia to build their dream house. David bought four studios in Marigot Bay, and soon bought another house and built between them. When Doolittle’s Restaurant and Marigot Inn came up for sale, David scooped them up with additional buildings over the following years.

Over the next few years David plans to build a further 60 rooms on the land behind the 40 room resort, which boasts a range of amenities including shops, a gym, a free ferry for guests and patrons, and a 40-foot ocean-going yacht which is available for guests to charter.

During your stay, make sure you say hello to David’s faithful companion, Pepsi – a friendly Rhodesian Ridgeback/Black Labrador cross, who was given to David by St Lucia’s Chief of Police. When Pepsi isn’t cooling off in the sea, you’ll usually find her at the bar, waiting to shake paws with guests.
