Cruzan Rum Distillery

In 1760, a sugar mill began crushing cane at the current site of the Cruzan Rum distillery on the island of St. Croix. Since the early 1800s, the Nelthropp Family (a.k.a. Cruzan Rum Royalty) has called St. Croix home, becoming an integral part of the island's history. And for the last two hundred years, the island has not only left its mark on them but also their rum.

The unique spirit of St. Croix echoes in every bottle of Cruzan® Rum – from the Nelthropp family, who have crafted rum on the island for generations, to the warm, tropical breezes that circulate through the open-air warehouses of the distillery. Even the name reflects the people of St. Croix, called Crucians.

Out on West Airport Road, you can visit the distillery and see them making Virgin Islands rum. The tour includes a walk through the plant by long, flat sections of kegs, up ramps past the distilling, through fumes as intoxicating as the rum itself, to bottling and labeling.

Beam Suntory is actively managing its response to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic, and we're determined to do our part to support our communities and help contain the spread of the virus. Consistent with guidance from public health authorities to limit large gatherings, and given that our public tours include elements that bring groups together in relatively restricted spaces, we have temporarily suspended tours at our visitor experience in St. Croix. We understand that this may be disappointing, and we apologize for any inconvenience. Please be assured that we are taking this action out of an abundance of caution because our employees' health and well-being and loyal brand fans are paramount.
