La banane; The name is that of the first cabaret revue created by Jean-Marie Rivire who was the hotel's founding father. Jean-Marie Rivire was a personality in the world of the French music-hall, an emblem of showbiz.

For a long time, he was one of the kings of Parisian night-life. He founded and hosted the Paradis Latin and the Alcazar in Paris. His legacy still inspires many international stages.

Jean-Marie Rivire enchanted the Island. At La Banane he welcomed everybody, celebrities and anonymous friends with equal warmth and festivity. At the time, dancers did the splits among the palm trees !
