Elbow Beach is part of Mandarin Oriental’s portfolio of luxury establishments. It is named after the stretch of private, pristine shore on which it resides – a beach of pink sand. October 23, 2009 update:

The 101-year-old Elbow Beach Hotel on Bermuda's south shore is shuttering the 131 guestrooms in the pastel-yellow main building for a planned renovation that will take several years.

The move will result in the elimination of 160 jobs by Nov. 30.

General Manager Frank Stock said the resort’s room count will drop 58%, from 235 units to 98 garden cottages.

Guests will have access to three restaurants and room service during the renovation.
