Barbados' simplified marriage requirements and the availability of professional wedding planners and services make it easy to celebrate your union on this breathtaking tropical island.

Barbados's relaxed marriage requirements make it an ideal choice for your Caribbean wedding. Unlike some islands, there is no waiting period or residency requirement. Both parties must apply for a license in person at the office of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Bridgetown. The only required paperwork is a valid passport or original or certified birth certificate. For a second marriage, an original divorce decree or a certified marriage and death certificate are also needed. For non-residents of Barbados, the fee is BDS $150 BDS and a $25 stamp. Two witnesses are also required at the ceremony, and a wedding planner can help with this if you do not have attendants accompanying you.

Luxury hotels offer wedding packages that include everything from obtaining a marriage license and booking the minister to providing the floral arrangements, wedding cake, and reception. You can also rent a luxurious private villa. Many villas have a chef on staff, who can ensure that the wedding dinner is just what you planned. The island has a number of wonderful wedding coordinators, who can help with all the arrangements, from submitting the necessary paperwork and obtaining the marriage license to booking the photographer and overseeing the reception.
